"Your centre is lovely, I mainly wanted to say, the Santa you had was fantastic, it was a lovely set up, and we didn't feel rushed at all (even though we have 4 kids!) and it wasn't like he was seeing the millionth child for the day! So it was worth the 40 minute wait!

He was very calm when my special needs son was tugging at his beard! Very warm and welcoming! We all came out very happy!"

The grotto this time around managed to raise a fantastic £2,000 for Helen and Douglas House. Thank you so much to every single one of you who visited Santa and were so generous with your donations.

Born in Lechlade, Glucester, growing up John would go and water the schools greenhouse during the holidays. Leaving school at 15 he went on to work at Florence Park, and then Cuttleslowe Park Nursery where he became Nursery Manager.

He was responsible for ordering the 300,000 bedding plants needed to adorn the floral flower and decor in and around Oxford.

This included such events as The Queen's visit, Prince Charles's visit, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton's movie premiere for The Taming of the Shrew, an episode of Inspector Morse and all of the University's Balls and Weddings just to name a few.

Oxford won Britain in Bloom 3 times whilst John worked as the Horticultural Officer for the council, and he then became a judge himself.

John has now worked as our House Plant specialist for 9 years.
